It’s the very last night
For our Christmas lights
Before they are all put away
But before we unhook
Let’s take one last look
At the glittering, joyous display
With each bauble and star
We've traveled so far
In the warmth of December's embrace
Now the tinsel will fade
In the New Year's parade
Yet our hearts will forever be light
It’s hard to let go of the holiday
The laughter, the fun, and the cheer
The Santas and lights
That sparkle so bright
And stay in our hearts, bright and clear
It’s so hard letting go of the holiday
The memories that we made, so dear
We'll pack them away
And fondly replay
Till we get together next year
But the colors grow dim
Now night's closing in
And the entryway hall, so austere
Holds merry echoes
Of the cheerful hellos
That fade to a scene soft and still
We say our goodnight
Turning out the last light
Amazed at the window to find
In the stars far above
Are the faces we've loved
To guide us to goodness and light
Can we pause in the turn of the years
In this light in your eyes where love grows
If I could stop time, the clocks would unwind
And we'd live every night in that glow
It’s hard to let go of the holiday
The laughter, the fun, and the cheer
The Santas and lights
That sparkle so bright
And stay in our hearts, bright and clear
It’s so hard letting go of the holiday
The memories that we made, so dear
We'll pack them away
And fondly replay
Till we get together
If we can get together next year
